What forms will I need to bring with me?

Bring 2 forms of identification, such as a driver’s license, picture ID required, insurance cards, insurance forms if needed, advance directive or living will if you have one.

Do I need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a COVID-19 test prior to my procedure?

You are no longer required to be vaccinated or tested prior to your procedure. For your safety, we screen all patients for COVID-19 when they arrive at the center, prior to admission. 

Are there any accommodations for persons accompanying me? 

There is a comfortable overflow waiting area where they can remain until you are ready to be discharged. Vending machine and phone charging station is available.

What if I cannot make my appointment?

Please notify the surgeon and the Surgery Center at 973-779-7210 as early as possible if you cannot make your scheduled appointment. Early notification can help us better accommodate you and other patients.

Can I drive myself to and from the center?

If you have IV sedation or General Anesthesia, for your safety, you will not be permitted to drive or leave the Center alone. A family member or other responsible adult must drive you home. Please make these arrangements prior to your surgery date. If you need assistance with transportation, please speak with your doctor. The patients who have procedures performed under local anesthesia alone could possibly drive home.

Why must I refrain from eating or drinking prior to my surgery?

To prevent the risks of aspirating gastric contents during your surgery. This complication is very serious and you need to strictly abide by our recommendations. 

Do I need pre-op testing? 

Pre-op testing, if required, will be arranged by your doctor’s office. 

Do you have interpreter services? 

We have staff who speak Spanish, and Polish. Please bring an interpreter with you or inform us ahead of time, so that we can provide someone who speaks your language, including sign language. 

When will I know what time my surgery is scheduled and what time I should arrive? 

You will be notified of your procedure time the day prior to your procedure. 

Where will I put my belongings? 

You will be provided with a locker. Please leave all valuables at home (money, jewelry, etc).

Is there parking available? 

There is free patient parking outside the building.
